Maria Kalognomou

Maria Kalognomou is a Visual Artist and an Educational Art Teacher. She was born in Thessaloniki in 1978. She completed her studies at the department of Art of ENADSE École Supérieure Art et Design in Saint Étienne, France, and she obtained a DNSEP with Distinction in 2002.

Maria Kalognomou is a Visual Artist and an Educational Art Teacher.

She was born in Thessaloniki in 1978. She completed her studies at the department of Art of ENADSE École Supérieure Art et Design in Saint Étienne, France, and she obtained a DNSEP with Distinction in 2002. Her thesis was prepared with the French painter Denis Laget as her artistic search Director. She got a scholarship at the Académie der Bilbenben Kunst Karlsruhe, Germany and she attended the painting programme at the class of the German painter Max G. Kaminski.

After a period of more than five years of working in France, Rwanda and Togo, she  participated in multiple projects at the Biennale of International Design of Saint-Étienne, the French Institute of Kigali (ex. CECFR) and the creation of an African review dedicated to Arts of the continent in question titled “Lumière Africa “. During all this period she never stopped pursuing new methods and techniques to enrich her art, and new ways to define her artistic language. In 2008 she returned to Greece and joined the Athens Fine Art School in the class of George Lazongas. After her graduation she worked in the National Education System as a public school teacher in different school environments in both primary and secondary education. Since 2022 she has been living in The Hague, at the Netherlands based Atelier and she has been studying the Golden Age painters and their influences on contemporary international painting. Generally, never remains idle and loves learning new things, she believes that the greatest strength is the peaceful observation of our world.
